Lillie's first trip to Fenway

Way back in the snow covered months of winter Andy and Riss mentioned something called Futures at Fenway to George and I.  They were thinking of taking Liam and asked if we would be interested in taking Lillie.  We thought it sounded good so the tickets were purchased and now many months later we have realized what a great choice we made. 

On Saturday we headed off to Boston.   We decided to park over at the Prudential Center and just walk to the park from there.  We figured that we could drive straight in and we were still on the fence about taking a stroller and figured if we opted out of the stroller it wouldn't be too far to walk and less hassle than a still squirmy 1 year old on the T. Prior to leaving we looked up some parking options online and found coupons for the Pru parking garage. Thank goodness we did.  Our original parking cost was $35 but we only paid $12.  (TIP: Check out Central Parking Boston the next time you head into the city,  sometimes the lots are small and fill up before you can get a spot but you can save a bunch if you're lucky) We met up with Meghan once we got onto Boylston Street and then walked down to Fenway.  It probably only took about 10-15 minutes.

We made it to the park and made a B-line for some food.  We picked up some tasty beverages and Fenway Franks (at family friendly discounted prices).  Then we headed for our seats to watch the Portland SeaDogs play the Birmingham Mets. 

We made it to the 5th or 6th inning before squirmy Lillie needed a break and I was able to take her up and wander around for a bit.  She was able to walk and there was enough space that I could give her a bit of freedom. We had a nice time exploring some of the nooks and cranies and learned a bunch of Fenway history (did you know there are historical plaques all over the place describing all the buildings that were once seperate and then got absorbed by the park?  Very cool.)

The firstgame made it to extra innings before the SeaDogs lost in the 11th.  We waited about half an hour before the 2nd game started Pawtucket PawSox vs. the Syracuse Chiefs.

Lil was fighting a nap so George took her on another walk and after he found a quiet corner she fell asleep while listening to the National Anthem being sung.

When she woke up we explored the other side of the park.  (There are some really amazing views that I've never seen before.)  

We only made it the 5th inning of the 2nd game before we bowed out to head home but it was an amazing day.  Including food and seats and parking we spent less than $100 for 4 people (Each of our seats would have been at least that much per person for a regular game).  It was an amazing way to get the Fenway experience without the crazy pricetag and crazy crowd. LOVED IT!
