Aside from just generally having fun there is only 1 real (self imposed) requirement for staying on the Cape and that is ice cream. There are so many ice cream places that you just have to try a new one each day. Sadly we did not exactly succeed as there is 1 shop that we went to twice and 1 day that we didn't get any at all (ack ... say it's not so!)
I think we were pretty happy with all the places we stopped and would probably return to most of them again. (Again in no particular order)
1 - Sundae School - They have many locations. We went to the one in Dennis.
We went on the first night when everyone from the first wave of family was still there. There were so many of us that we had to take 3 seperate vehicles. Uncle Dan and Aunt Cindy had been there over the winter and sat inside in the cute little ice cream shop. When we arrived they were in full swing summer Saturday night crowd. There were literally cops directing traffic out front and at least 3 or 4 guys on walkie talkies helping to get cars parked. It took about 5-10 minutes to get a parking spot but we all did eventually. You can still go into the cute little shop over the summer but the line was crazy long. We had cash so we were able to get in line at one of the MUCH shorter lines outside. (We only had to wait for 1 or 2 people ahead of us as opposed to the 20 or so people that were lined up clear out the door to get in the shop .... Travel tip: when on the Cape be prepared with extra cash ... Some places don't take credit and when they do the lines may be crazy because no one knew they needed cash.)
Some of the noteable flavors were:
Sharks Tooth (Black raspberry with white chocolate chips),
Bass River Mud (coffee ice cream with chocolate chips, almonds, and fudge sauce), and a
Mint Oreo. Lillie fell asleep in the truck on the way over so we needed to stay with it. The rest of the clan joined us and we had an impromptu tailgate party.

The Ice Cream Smuggler (aka ... The Smuggler) - located in Dennis.
We actually went to the Smuggler twice. On the first stop a few people went in and picked up some take out containers of ice cream to take home. They returned with some old favorites like
chocolate chip, cookie dough, and
pistachio. They also brought home something that just sounded good ...
Apple Pie. Well, true to it's name, it tasted just like a slice of apple pie! In the course of the week the Apple Pie ice cream was hyped up quite a bit and Uncle Frank decided that he must try it so after seeing the sunset over the marsh we all made the trek to The Smuggler again.
The Apple Pie was purchased and enjoyed again. We also had some
Cookie Monster (blue vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips, and homemade cookies) There were a few ice cream sundaes purchased (the shop was recently featured on the Food Network's Best Thing I Ever Ate for their sundaes) It was pretty good ... they put the sauce in the bottom, then the ice cream, then more sauce before adding whipped cream and whatever other toppings you choose.
There are a few flavors that I am already looking forward to trying on my next trip like the French Raspberry Truffle (french vanilla with raspberry swirl and chocolate covered raspberry truffles.)

Four Seas - located in Craigville/ Centerville.
Meghan and I were driving around aimlessly one day because Lillie had been fighting a nap all day and was finally sleeping so I wasn't about to take her out and wake her up. As I rounded a turn I thought to myself ... This looks familiar and suddenly Four Seas was directly on my left. I had stopped in a few years ago and knew it was pretty good. I looked at Megs and said "should we?" Just as someone on the end pulled out of their parking spot. It was as if it was fated so we nodded and were able to glide right into a spot. Megs ran in while I sat with the sleepy Lil. She came out with 2 to share: A cup of
cookie dough (which was great, tiny little pieces of dough but BIG dough taste, I wouldn't be surprised if the ice cream base was more of a cookie taste itself than just plain vanilla), and a diet sized
raspberry truffle sundae (to die for! Chocolate chip ice cream, fresh raspberry sauce with chunks of raspberry, hot fudge sauce, and chopped almonds ... so good!)
Everyone else wanted to go back after we raved about it but we never found a good time to return.

The Cape Cod Creamery - located in South Yarmouth
We stopped in here on mom's birthday which was also our last night in town. There was a line out the door when we arrived but it moved quickly. When you got inside all of the flavors were named something kitchty and Cape related. I got the Kape Kod Kit Kat (chocolate with bits of Kit Kat bars) because when you see your name as part of an ice cream flavor you pretty much have to get it. Lil got her own little bowl of vanilla too.
