Dining with Goofy

Tonight Lillie was a crazy person at dinner.  She had only 1 bite of food before she started throwing food on the floor (usually her sign that she is done).  At that point there was no way she was full.  We attempted numerous ways to entice her to eat.  We tried to eat a piece of what we were giving her ourselves while commenting on how yummy it was.  This worked a "little" bit.  We gave her food on a spoon instead of just leaving it on her tray because she seems to think that food is better on silverware.  This also worked a "little" bit.  We gave her the spoon so she could feed herself. Again it really didn't help.  She ate a few more bites before she started motioning that she was about to drop more food on the floor.  She had only eaten maybe 5 bites of food without trying to spit something out or throw it on the floor.  That was certainly not going to get her through the night so it was time to get more creative ....

George went into the living room and returned with Goofy.  We then proceeded to have Goofy "eat" Lillie's food and then Lillie would giggle and eat a bite herself. Eventually she decided that she wanted to feed Goofy so she would put some food on her spoon and hold it up to Goofy's mouth.  After Goofy ate Lillie would eat some more.  And so it continued until Lil managed to eat most of her dinner.  It was pretty funny.  About halfway through George turned to me and asked, "Does this make me a real dad?" Not that he wasn't a real dad for the last 15 months, and goodness knows we have both done some goofy things to entertain Lillie and help cheer her up or motivate her to do something over the past 15 months. It is just amusing the lengths to which one will go when trying to get a little girl to do something.
