Easter 2012

After a delightfully unexpectedly warm March it was kind of disappointing to find that it was in the 30's when we woke up on Easter Sunday.  We made the most of it and happily it warmed up a bit by the time for the egg hunt.

The morning started out with a chatty Lillie.  She was up and talking at 5:30 (a good hour before we normally get up on a work day). She was wide awake and having a grand old time talking with her stuffed animals, no fussing or asking to get out.  It was kind of nice to just listen to her being happy.  we all drifted in and out of sleep/sleepiness for a bit before we finally got a lazy start to the day.

Lillie immediately noticed the basket of fun stuff on the kitchen table and started reaching up to take things out of it.

We moved the basket to the living room to make topples and crashes less likely.  Of course that also made digging through the chocolate easier.  Our sneaky little bug was not inhibited at all by silly wrappers.  Notice the empty green wrapper next to her ... peeled and eaten by none other than Lillie.  We promptly removed the rest of the loose chocolate since we hadn't yet had breakfast.

After a yummy breakfast of cinnamon roll pancakes we hit the road to visit with George's family for the day.  We missed seeing Grandma,Poppop, and the Wallens as we wait for the impending arrival of the youngest Wallen family member but enjoyed hearing from them on the phone.

Lillie was fascinated with the cats.  She kept disappearing into the dining room to watch Archimedes play.

We headed outside for the egg hunt.  Early on she encountered this purple egg that was on a pile of rocks.  It was larger than all the other eggs and there was a dragon figurine in the garden nearby. She picked up the egg, almost got it to her basket, said "no like it", and put it right back on the pile of rocks before she continued on with her hunt.

Yes, she is wearing her winter coat in this picture.  It wasn't cold but there was enough of a chill that a coat was nice.

She really did catch on to the hunting thing pretty well.

A bunch of eggs were hidden in the garden and she has been taught well not to walk through the gardens. ... It took quite a bit of convincing and leading before she ventured in.

Notice the nice collection of eggs on the right of the picture below ... now notice the purple egg in her had to the left ... Mike brought her the large purple egg from the pile of rocks because it was the only one she hasn't picked up.  She seperated it from all the others and laid it on the step beside her ... but only for a few moments before she got up saying "no like it. Put it back, in garden" as she walked it back over and dropped it in the garden.  We were all hysterical by that point.  I was laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face.  Finally someone opened the egg and showed her the candy inside. All ofa sudden she got excited, ran over to pick it up, and put it in her basket.

Up on the stool for dessert. We didn't have a readily available phonebook so we used the next best thing ....

Lillie was parked a little too close to the cake apparently.

Yummy!

We went back out to hunt eggs again and Lillie had Uncle Paul wrapped around her little finger.

Lillie's first egg wars fight.  She didn't quite get it.  There's always next year.

After a long a fun filled day we had one last thing to do... read a bedtime story.  Lillie's choice was (one of her favorites) A Charlie Brown Christmas.  She doesn't quite understand yet that Christmas is a certain time of the year and not all the time.  I think that's fine and in fact was a somewhat fitting way to end our day.
