Fraidy cat!

I've gotta say, we have such a laid back baby.  She is normally so calm and easy going.  She is starting to get a little upset when she is with people that she doesn't know well.  She will give them the little "side eye" glare and occasionally even start to cry while reaching for mom or dad if we aren't already holding her. She's even pretty good about staying calm when she falls or bumps into something.  She probably only cries 1 out of every 5 times.  What can I say ... we're lucky.

There is however one little thing about our normally laid back little girl that completely boggles the mind .... cats. She seems to be totally terrified of cats.

We have 2 dogs, 3 sheep, and lots of chickens here at home and she is fine with them. Loves them even.  Laughs at them, watches them, waves at them, and loves petting the dogs. When we walk around in the stroller and pass other dogs she is fine no matter what size they are.  Big dogs, small dogs, hairy dogs, furry dogs.  She loves them all.  We've been to visit our friends Sarah and Kevin and their little girl a few times in the past few months and they have a cat.  During the last 2 trips everytime the cat came into Lillie's sight lines she would freeze and stare, start to whimper, and then all out scream.  We're talking tears, clinging to mommy, burying her face, and high pitched wailing. Once the cat is out of sight she is fine again. So unexpected from Laid Back Lillie. I don't really know what to do to help her and not really sure what it is about cats that disturbs her so much.  It is especially confusing because cats seem so similar in size and shape to the dogs so I don't know how she is so scared of the cat but loves dogs so much.
