11 months

New things: The big news for the month is CRAWLING!  She goes everywhere and she gets there soooo quickly.  She has mastered kneeling, pulling herself up, and also sitting back down.

She is exploring around the house and we are utilizing baby gates all over the house.  She has figured out how to get into a few cabinets in the kitchen but can’t reach anything that would hurt her (unless she gets a paper cut from a paper plate). She is at the perfect height for 1 particular row of knobs.  They are right at mouth level and she likes to try and stick them in her mouth when she’s faster than mom and dad.

She loves standing and walking but isn’t doing either without assistance.  She can stand for a few seconds on her own but usually it just seems accidental. Lillie is working on her words.  Most of the time she just babbles nonsense but there are a few words that she seems to know.  She will often say “dadadada” when she sees George and “mamamama” when she sees me.  She also says Bribri whenever she sees or hears one of the dogs (she doesn’t care if it’s Bri or Delta).

Teeth: 6!!! She has 4 on the top & 2 on the bottom.

Sleeping: (Ditto 10 months) Still sleeping through the night.  She still always takes her morning nap but she’s been playing around with her afternoon nap.  Some days she takes it and some days she just wants to play or stand.  She likes sleeping in the car.  She used to fall asleep by the time we got to the end of the driveway but now she tends to save her sleepy time for when we are driving down the highway (or Route 1 … needs to be fairly high continuous speeds). One big change we did make this month is that we are trying to phase out the pacifier.  We still use it at naptime but are trying to avoid it overnight.  She's been doing better with it than anticiapted so hopefully our little experiment continues to be successful.

Eating new foods: We added lots of things to her food repertoire this month including steak, broccoli, animal crackers.  We also started preparing her foods in much chunkier varieties and trying to give her as much finger food as possible.  She still isn’t a big fan of slippery finger foods yet.

Drinking: Sippy cups didn’t last for long. Lillie just doesn’t want to tip her head back to drink out of them.  She also doesn’t want to hold her bottle upright either (she wants to play with the bottle and make “milk shakes” but not much drinking actually happens). We bought some regular straws and she caught on to using one pretty quickly.  The spill proof straw cups are all a little harder to drink from due to the valves that make them spill proof.  She is really starting to get the hang of it now and can hold her own cup while drinking which makes all 3 of us very happy! (Lillie is excited that she can do it on her own while mom and dad are glad that we get a break.)
