A very penguin Christmas

I've never thought of Christmas as a particularly penguin-y time of year but this year it was. It was somewhat intentional and a lot accidental.

It all started with the pajamas.

We have a family tradition that every year we get new pajamas on Christmas Eve. Some years we just get random pajamas and some years they were known to match a little and some years there has been a theme to the pajamas (like last years ugly sweater t-shirts). This year we looked at options and found a bunch of cute penguin pjs for the kids, we started to formulate a theme. Then we found some fun penguin options for the grown ups too and a plan was hatched.

We bought the pjs for the kids but were a little too slow to get the penguin pjs for the grown ups too so non-penguin pjs were purchased. When Lillie heard that the grown ups were not getting penguin pjs too she was very disappointed.

We got out of school a little early this year so since we had a little extra time I decided to get a little crafty (for the first time in decades that wasn't school related. I think insane would be an accurate statement regarding my mental state) and make penguin t-shirts to go with our pj pants. (Sorry out of towners for your lack of penguin shirts. I'm sure something could be arranged if you really want one.)

Yes, they had matching pjs.

We thought pajamas would be the end of the penguin-ness but we soon learned that we underestimated the penguin. As packages started to appear under the tree we noticed a theme with the wrapping paper. About 90% of the wrapping paper had penguins on it.

Then when opening presents both girls received penguin ornaments.

I forgot that Lillie had already picked a penguin ornament for herself at the craft fair.

She also got penguin wall decals for her bedroom.

Mom even wore penguin earrings.
