In October 2009 we learned that Baby P was on the way. In early January 2010 after many lists were started but no agreements were made George started calling the baby Sparkey after yet another long name convseration left the laptop dying without the "spark" of electricity generated by the power cord. For weeks I tried to hold out and refused to do anything but laugh everytime he referred to the baby as Sparkey but over time I caved. At the end of January we were excited to learn that Baby P was in fact Baby "Girl" P so Sparkey became Sparkle/ Sparkette (like Smurfette???). We bought a few outfits that said things like "Mommy's little Sparkler!" and embraced the Sparkle but had the hardest time picking a name for our little girl.
In February my nana passed away and after many discussions we agreed that we wanted to honor her by using her middle name "Elizabeth" as baby P's middle name but the 1st name still alluded us. By June we narrowed it down to 2 possible 1st names. She was born and remained simply Baby Pacenka for many hours. At some point in the middle of the night in exhaustion we finally made the decsion that she would be Lillian Elizabeth Pacenka. (after Nana and George's Great Aunt Lillie).
Every now and then we think back and chuckle about how hard it was to choose her name because now she has so many (I'm sure you'll notice a few "trends"): Lillie (of course), Lil'P, Lilliputian, Lilliput, Lil' bug, Bug, Love Bug, Munchkin, Lil', Lillie Lil, Lillie Lu, Lillie Lillie Lumpkin, Lillie Love, Lillie Beth, Silly Lillie, Silly Goose, Lillie Goose.
Sparkle / Sparkey seems to have fallen by the wayside but still seems approrpriate because (as cliche as it may be) she is the light of our lives.
